2.2 Thought language

There are people who think in pictures, while others think in words. Some people do both. I for instance, think in words. Most of the time, I tend to think in Dutch, quite often English, and on rare occasions Bahasa Pasar (Indonesian dialect).

I think that thinking is faster than speaking. First of, you can control your speech however, you can’t fully control your own thoughts. In just mere seconds, several thoughts would pop up, without any problems. People need to think of words, or sentences in order to speak it. Most people tend to think before they act and speak, because they want to make sure not to say anything stupid, outrageous or offending. Besides, most thoughts aren’t actually acted out.
