1.1 What is language
It's a strange world of language in which skating on thin ice can get you into hot water. ~Franklin P. Jones
Ice and hot are opposites. So it does look weird to such a sentence structure. However this sentence is correct in every sense. This is because of the idiom: in hot water. The whole meaning of hot in combination with “in” and “water” is changed into “being in trouble”. It is a fun way of bending the words.
Language is the dress of thought. ~Samuel Johnson
Language is a way to express your emotion and thought by using sounds. Words can; describe emotions, objects, and persons; have different definitions; can mean the same thing; etc. Because of the great variety of words, there are many ways to convey your thoughts while playing with words and sentence structure. A good example is the quote of Franklin P. Jones.
Language
Language is a way of communicating with others while using sound, by using the mouth and/or nose.
