There are many ways to spell words. It doesn’t stop at the 26 Latin alphabetic. There are more vowels than /i//e//o//u/. there are many rules with many exceptions. This is what the writer shows us. Is English spelling catastrophic? The answer is yes.

 

This myth is certainly fun to read, as I noticed that the similarities in the Dutch language, regarding the spelling of it being confusing at times. However, the many different pronunciation a Latin alphabetic has in the English language is ridicules. Though, the English language is intriguing, it confuses me to no end. Nonetheless, as Bertil would say: ”If it doesn’t confuse you, then you didn’t learn anything.”
