Italian is Beautiful, German is Ugly

Howard Giles and Nancy Niedzielski

The writers came to the conclusion that the ugliness and beauty of languages and dialects are built on cultural norms, pressures and social connotations.

I do not solely agree with both writers. Beauty and ugly are vague words that are indeed viewed differently by cultures. Even though this opinion is ingrained in the minds of the people, this doesn’t include individuality. This statement is an opinion that is not shared with everyone from a certain culture and social class. Consequently, it doesn’t mean that one, who would like art is smitten by the Greek or French language. I do think that the cultural norms and social connotations will have a big influence on your opinion about this matter, yet it should not disregard the peoples individuality.
